Dear Doctors,
I am a 40 year old male and has been told that I have atrial fib. However, I don't think there is fibrilation, but rather the extra heart beats you described in previous entries. It has been two years since I first went to the er suffering from an irregular heartbeat and lightheadedness. I was given a echocardiogram, an ekg, and a stress test. The results of the ekg were normal, the echo showed a slight enlargement of the left ventricle. I am presently taking 100mg of metoprolol twice a day. This has worked ok in controlling most of the extra beats, but I am still having related problems.  Several days ago at work I became very lightheaded I also became anxious) and i felt a sick feeling just below the brest bone. There was a weak feeling in my chest and stomach. Since then I have experiences lightheadedness and some stabbing pain over the heart that is short lived. I also have a feeling in the left

It is time to be re-evaluated by a cardiologist. Changing symptoms always concern me. Your diagnosis may have changed or you may have developed a new problem. Sometimes afib becomes more problematic as one ages.
