I was life flighted to lakewood hospital last week on the 20th of july
with a mild heart attack. My family doctor N.J. Presswala I trust completly
with out question. He has been treating me for COPD for a long time. I also
do come to the clinic for my COPD. My heart doctor Ali N. Shaikn has been
over seeing any heart conditions on me for five years now. He was giving me
a catheter on the 23rd in lakewood hospital when my heart stop. I was gone
for three minutes before I was revived. I have to go back in in a few weeks
for I have four blockages. The RCA has 1 at 100% and the LMC has 3 with d1
at 80% d2 at 80% and in the CX just below the AC 100% blockage. He is only talking about doing the 2 at 100% the other 2 he feels he will let alone. He says he will try stents if he can. I'm scared right now for I do not want to die again. My question is this IS Lakewood Hospital a qualified place?
Is this heart qualified enough? He seems like he is always in such a hurry
all the time. I do not want to be another patient on is production line.

Dear Dan,
Any doctor who is doing angioplasty must have undergone extensive training and meet certain minimum qualifications.   Angioplasty is however an operator dependent procedure, which means some doctors are better at it than others.  My personal biasis (of course) is for the Clinic but we don't have a monopoly and there are many other good doctors and hospitals in the Cleveland area.  Hope this answers your question.
I hope you find this information useful.  Information provided in the heart forum is for general purposes only.  Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies.  Please feel free to write back with additional questions.
If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please call 1-800-CCF-CARE or inquire online by using the Heart Center website at www.ccf.org/heartcenter.  The Heart Center website contains a directory of the cardiology staff that can be used to select the physician best suited to address your cardiac problem.
