: Iam not sure Iam in the right place for this question but maybe you can direct me I 've had pain in my legs for the last 2 years that flucuate up and down they feel like the veins in my legs are inflamed. I have had a little ache pain in one vein that is varicose in the past but nothing like this before. My triglicerides (triglycerides) were elevated and with diet and some natural suppliments I've brought them down to normal although my cholesteral levels have increased and Iam in the process of  trying to bring them down. Iam on HRT therapy for surgical meopause and wondered if it might be causing them to be inflamed. Heart disease is in my family. My question is do you have any idea what might be going on and what kind of doctor I might need to see?
                                                                  thank you

Dear Ms:
Chronic lower extremity pain can be caused by numerous disease processes involving multiple organ systems.
I would suggest that you contact your local family physician so that a complete and thorough evaluation can be conducted.  I am sorry that I can not provide you with more specific details. If you would like to be evaluated at the Cleveland Clinic, an appointment can be arranged by calling 1-800-CCF-CARE.
