I am 36 and was recently diagnosed with pvcs.
a holter monitor revealed 37,000 pvcs in a 24 hr.period.
I was put on toprol xl 25mg,with no help, now I am taking
50mg now for one week, with still no help.My cardiologist,
whom I have only seen the one visit just wants me to give the toprol
another week and call and report.I know this condition is common
but shouldnt other tests be ran to rule out other underlying health
problems,I did have bloodwork which was normal. To someone like
myself who has been told they have this condition, its kind of scary,
but seems like the doctors think its no big deal,Why would somebody
all of a sudden develop this??
                        Thanks!!!

Dear Janet,
I, too, experience PVC's but they are due to a different problem.  From what I've been told, caffeine, choco

Dear Janet
Denise is right. Some over the counter remedies like decongestants and inhalers are other possible triggers that are often overlooked. Unfortunately, chocolate and tea are also possible offenders.
I hope this has been useful. Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck.

Thanks Denise for the info,I dont take otc cold meds, not much
caffeine intake, but I take elavil also for migraines and had
questioned my physician about this and was told it had no
connection to the pvcs since I had an episode of pvcs for
only 2 days last fall and had been put on the elavil only in
january, the pvcs returned in mid march and have been non-stop
ever since,I wondered if maybe the elavil may have made the
pvcs worse. When I had the pvcs last fall it was only for 2 days
and had never had them prior to that,I do knoe that the elavil
has gotten rid of my migraines, and has been a wonder-drug to me!
My Neurologist wants me to try and gradually taper it down and
eventually go off of it,I guess then at that time I will know if it did
contribute to the pvcs.
                                 THANKS
