I am 36 and was recently diagnosed with pvcs.
a holter monitor revealed 37,000 pvcs in a 24 hr.period.
I was put on toprol xl 25mg,with no help,now I am taking
50mg now for one week,with still no help.My cardiologist,
whom I have only seen the one visit just wants me to give the toprol
another week and call and report.I know this condition is common
but shouldnt other tests be ran to rule out other underlying health
problems,I did have bloodwork which was normal.To someone like
myself who has been told they have this condition,its kind of scary,
but seems like the doctors think its no big deal,Why would somebody
all of a sudden develop this??

Dear Lisa
There are no miracle cures for PVCs. Medications like atenolol and metoprolol are the safest for those patients that require treatment for symptoms. Relaxation and stress reduction are good ideas. There are more powerful medications for PVCS in extreme cases. Also, cardiac electrophysiologists can perform ablation procedures to eliminate certain types of PVCs. However, I am wary of recommending a procedure with a small, but real, risk of death for a benign condition.
More tests can always be done, but they are rarely useful. PVCs in young healthy people are almost always benign.

Hi there!
I have discivered your "Heart Forum" and have realised that there are other people out there that suffer from the same problem!
I was diagnosed with PVC's 3 months ago, after being medivaced from offshore Gulf of Mexico. I am a 34 yr old female with no previous medical problems. As I have since discovered, I was'nt the only one that got frightened by these!
I was kept overnight in hospital for monitoring and , after a battery of tests, assured that stress and caffeine were most likely to be the causes, and I was discharged with firm instructions to "chill out"!!!
Being British, and  a long way from home, I was pretty scared.
However, I have learnt to deal with my problem, and that is to really try not to get stressed and to quit caffeine, including my favourite -chocolate!  
It is reassuring to know that there are lots of peopole out there who know what it is about, and that helps tremendously.
