Thank you for your response, I did see a cardiol.I am now sched. for a stress echo. Ihave already had a stress tst and passed, and a regular echo also norml. What can be observed on a stressecho that the other 2 don't necessarily show? Are there any other tests that should be done? Can CAD be seen on a stress echo?? Thanks so much. What a wonderful service you have. Kari

Stress echo looks for a decrease in the wall motion of the heart with exercise that indicates areas of ischemia (lack of blood flow) to the heart.  A regular echo does not detect ischemia.

Dear Dr.,
Does the Thallium test (sp?) show the same things as a stress echo or do they show different things?  I'm trying to get another test because my pvc's are now coming in runs and are occuring more often with exercise.  I've had an echo and stress test, but I don't think either of these tests would show if there was a blood flow problem.  What test would you recommend for someone that has had an echo and stress test that came out fine, but now is experiencing increased pvc's that are coming in runs and are occuring more frequently with exercise?
Christi

Dear Christi,
Yes, a thallium is similar to a stress echo.  It may or may not be necessary to check for ischemia in an individual with PVC's.  Do you have any other symptoms of chest pain or risk factors for heart disease or is it only the PVC's?

Dear Dr.,
I haven't had any regular chest pain.  I've had some strange feelings in my chest, but I wouldn't call it pain.  I am still wondering why these would increase with exercise though??  Wouldn't that be reason enough for more testing...especially testing that involves exercize such as a stress echo??
CHristi
