I'm a 42 yr old female.  I'm scared, I'm having chest pains, with this I have numbness, and tingling in my left arm, and hand, the chest pains are at least 3 or 4 times daily, and very hard pains. The tingling and numbness is get to be almost constant.  Also I have tightness in my chest along with burning that goes all the way to my back shoulder blades.  It is not heartburns, because I've had that and also had my gallblatter removed.  Then I have the same pains going down in my left leg to the inner left groin area, it feels as my bone is going to break into at the groin.  I have healthsource insurance, my primary doctor said for me to go to the emergency room, but if it is not deemed life or death then the insurance company does not pay.  I would just like to go to the doctor have a check-up then be referred to a specialist.  Because I have had carpul tunnel in my wrist and had surgery, but the pain in my arm is alot different. what should I do.

Dear Gwen
If you are having serious pains, you should go to the emergency room right away. From a distance, that is the only sensible advice I can give you.
You do need to be evaluated for the presence of heart disease by your doctor.
I hope this is useful. Feel free to write back. I wish you the best of luck.
If you would like to set up an appointment with one of our cardiologists here at the Cleveland Clinic please feel free to call 1-800-CCF-CARE.
