Need to know what the standard treatment for stress induced tachycardia,
(ventricular tachycardia) is....This is for an anatomy project...seem to

Dear Judy,
Thank you for your question.  Ventricular tachycardia is a malignant fast rhythm originating from the ventricle (lower chamber of the heart).  It requires treatment.  The type of treatment depends on the hemodynamic (blood pressure) situation of the patient.  If the patient is hemodynamically unstable the treatment is immediate electrical cardioversion.  If the patient is hemodynamically stable a number of different medications can be tried to break the rhythm and if these fail then electrical cardioversion is used.  Complete information can be found from the American Heart Association ACLS protocol.
