Reaction to stress test?

I recently had a nuclear stress during which I got very sick.  I had a sick headache, nausea and dizziness which just got worse during the day. My blood pressure 2 hrs after the stress test was something over 96...the test showed no problems with my heart, but my pressure jumped to about 200 over 100 during the test.  I did not feel better until they told me I was dehydrated, even though I had been drinking water and juice all day, and I drank many electrolyte drinks. What was this? They had no answer. How do you get dehydrated while drinking water and juice and what was that with the blood pressure? I thought you got low pressure with dehydration. I am completely confused and desperate to avoid that feeling again... does anybody know anything about this?

The signs of an illness may have manifested itself during the test, but your symptoms appeared subsequently is a possibility.

There about a hundred different causes for dehydration other than the lack of fluid intake.  If you google causes of dehydration perhaps you identify the cause.

I would also be very concerned, and would seek a second opinion from another cardiologist.  I don't think you were dehydrated, and it appears that this was brought on by the stress test.  My son doesn't have a colon so we are very aware of symptoms, and what to do when he gets dehydrated, and he recovers very quickly. Prior to my son having his colon removed, I once took him to the hospital because of stomach pain, and they told me he was just dehydrated.  I walked out and took him to another hospital and he had a bowel blockage, and had to have surgery!  So, I'm big on second opinions, and truly feel you need one. Always error on the cautious side, and remember what they call the medical student who graduates at the bottom of his class.........Doctor!  Good luck to you.........

I assume this was a nuclear perfusion scan? Normally you would have two scans taken
during this procedure, about an hour apart. The first scan is with the heart under stress
and the second is with the heart under normal relaxed conditions but with nitrates administered to fully open the arteries.
To get the heart into a stressed mode, either a treadmill is used or drugs are injected
slowly which really get the heart racing. I couldn't handle the treadmill so drugs were used and wow did they cause chest discomfort, dizziness etc. It lasted about 30 mins.
I am intolerant to nitrates and had to refuse them. They have no effect on my blocked
Coronary arteries but cause all my other arteries to fully open. This causes chronic
headaches and nausea.
