Been there and done that.If you surgery is the traditional open heart and not the new minimally invasive surgery then expect 12 weeks before you can return to work(mine was traditional open heart) and if minimally invasive then 8 weeks is the norm. You need the time to allow your body to heal to the point you are sufficienttly able to handle the vigiorious activity required to work fulltime. You will probably be involved in a cardiac rehab program which will help. But listen to your body and do not rush it
Dear Window,
I hope everything goes well with your bypass surgery. You will probably be in the hospital for 7 to 10 days. After going home you should be able to return to work in approximately 8 weeks, depending on the type of work you do. At the 8 week mark you won't be 100%, there may be some residual soreness. However, you should continue to further gain strength as you follow the prescribed exercises.
Thanks for your question,
