Rehab after bypass surgery

I am 83 years old and had triple bypass surgery Dec 7th , 2007 at Mass General Hospital in Boston.
I will complete 2 weeks at Spaulding Rehab on Dec 28th ( acute care faciltiy )
I wish to have more rehab at a sub-acute rehab facility.
My doctor wants me to go home.
I live alone in a 2 story single family home.
I don't think I can answer the door every time visiting nurses arrive.
I am afraid I'll forget to take my medications and worry about who is going to prepare my meals.
My doctor will NOT let me go to another rehab. I have 5 MONTHS of insurance coverage.
Again. I am 83 years old and alone.

How can I appeal my doctors' decision to send me home?
How can I get into a sub-acute rehab when my doctor wants me home?
Please answer ASAP my discharge date is December 28 , 2007

If your son can write this, perhaps he can also give you some assistance in your recovery at home.  It sounds like a visiting nurse would be a wonderful step, though I agree a continuation of some form of cardiac rehab is a good idea.  

Answering the door is good - it gets you moving around.  My 80 year old grandmother, after her bypass, is still very very active.  The only thing she doesn't do is drive.  She watches the grandkids, goes to shows, etc., and while most of us think she over-does it, it seems to keep her going.  Being sedentary is never healthy, at any age.  Now, I don't know your specific situation, but your doctor may think this is what is best for your recovery.

I DO think that continuing cardiac rehab is an excellent idea.
