Replacement Valve Choice

I am a 65 year old woman with mitral valve regurgitation.
I've been told that I need  mitral valve repair/replacement
and that right now I am in that "window of opportunity" for
the surgery.
I was also told that if valve repair is not feasible I must choose, beforehand of course, between the mechanical St. Jude's valve and
a bio-prosthetic (pig tissue) valve. I am leaning towards the bio-prosthetic because I do not want to take coumadin for the rest of my
life.
1. What do you advise patients regarding choice of replacement valve
types?
2. Can you recommend a surgeon or surgeons in the Los Angeles
metropolitan area since I cannot travel to Cleveland?
