Restenosis

by Denis Janssen, Oct 03, 1999 12:00AM
I received a bypass 11 months ago. 4 months ago a dottertreatment was given.
The diagnosis was restonosis on the spot were the bypass was
stitched to the vein. Appearently the scartissues on this spot have grown excessively.
Now doctors want to perform a second bypass operation.
Question: Is there any chance the same problem occurs after the second bypass operating? I have been operated with a new method
called octopus meaning the side of the heart is stabilised while the hart still is functioning.

Dear Denis,

The same problem can always occur with any bypass.  You must rely on the expertise of the surgeons who are doing the procedure.  You will have a minimally invasive "beating Heart" surgery which is generally well tolerated.
