There is a hole between the right and left atrium and some blood is passing from the left atrium to the right atrium.  This a congenital defect as the hole usually closes after birth, the passing of blood left to right and the small size is not considered serious.  There probably isn't any symptoms associated with the defect, but if it enlarges there may be shortness of breath with exertion.

If there develops a symptoms, the success rate with intervention for successful closure is good for atrial septal defect size of 15 mm or less.
