Risk of another heart failure after valve replacement

Posted By Senen on September 15, 1998 at 05:20:22:

I had a congestive heart failure (extreme shortness of breath, fatigue,
etc) which necessitated hospitalization in March 1998 and again in
June 1998.
I knew that I had a problem with my aortic valve as a result of rheumatic
fever from way back, but it never bothered me until this year. After the
second failure, my doctor advised me to undergo an aortic valve
replacement which was performed a month ago.  I feel a lot better now
and will be returning to work soon.  After this replacement, is there
any risk of suffering again from heart failure?  Thanks.  Senen
