SLOW HEART RATE

by ART406, Feb 20, 2008 04:20PM
This discussion is related to Atenolol and exercise performance.

What should my heart rate be while sleeping? It seems like its too low and I feel breathless when i wake up. I have taken it and it always is around 60. Is this too low. ? I am on 25 mg Atenolol. I am concerned about it since i wake up with this problem, but not during the day.
Please advise. I am 56 years old, fairly good health. slim. non smoker or drinker. Was prescirbed for me because of white coat syndrome and for panic attacks at night.

I agree it is not too low. I went to our ER for an ear infection many many weekends ago and they asked if I jogged. NOPE. they put me on a monitor saying my heart rate was in the 40's and they just want to make sure everything is okay. I went home with a holter monitor and the results. Just a slow heart beat for no reason. I had a full cardiac workup also. I would urge you to contact someone about it just to be sure.
good luck

To: ART406,
Read the side effects of Ateninol, can cause shortness of breath. I had to stop taking it.
Best of luck!!

See a good psychiatrist for an appropriate panic attack dx and Rx.
