SUGGESTIONS FOR POSTMI PROBLEMS AND TREATMENT

  Dear Sir,
  A relative, female and middle-aged, with a Grade 2 Cardiac Failure history - associated with hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia and smoking - suffered a mild Acute Anteroseptal MI last September 29.
  Following an angiography last October, she underwent an angioplasty and stent implantation operation at the university hospital in Izmir, Turkey.
  She now has pectoral pain - angina - coming with mild exercise and spreading to the left medial arm, probably due to the still obstructed left descending ( 95% ) and the right descending ( 35% ) coronary arteries.
  Any suggestions for the probable further treatment choices to avoid restenosis and related risks could have been lifesaving.

Dear Murat, thank you for your question.  It appears that your relative may need further angioplasty and stenting procedures to the existing blockages.  However, without knowing more about her medical history, it's hard for me to comment on her treatment.  We have a cardiologist from Turkey here at Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Murat Tuzcu.  You can call him at the number below and perhaps he can help arrange for a second opinion in Turkey or here in Cleveland.
