Are SVT's a symptom of HOCM or are the two unrelated.  I have had an event monitor show SVT's and have been diagnosed with HOCM.

Dear S.Jacobson,
Although they are two different mechanistic abnormalities (the HOCM is a mechanical problem and the SVT is an electrical problem in the heart), they are not completely unrelated in that patients with HOCM are known to have higher incidences of arrhythmias.  You should be seeing two cardiologists, one for the HOCM (preferably a specialist) and one for the SVT if that is really what you have.
I hope this information is useful. Information provided in the heart forum is for
general purposes only.  Only your physician can provided specific diagnoses and therapies.
Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck!
