SVT for 15 years

I am 47 y/o and  was just diagnosed with Heart Failure 4 days ago.Went to ER for SVT (only second time to the ER for this in 15 years, have worked through the hundreds of episodes prior to this). Thanks to ER Dr who went the ext ra mile and did Cardioversion and kept me over for observation.Echo next day showed Ejection Fraction of 35-40.I took this as a death sentence and sent myself and my wife into panic mode. My family means the world to me and I am attempting to deal with this and find the silver lining. What would have happened if the ER DR wouldn't have ordered the Echo. I had an Echo 2 years ago and my heart was "normal as normal could be" as described by the Cardialogist. Anybody with encouragement will greatly be appreciated as we are having a difficult time with this diagnosis. Have already started daily walks and heart healthy food diet.

fule31,

Thanks for the post. Patients who have a fast heart rate frequently will have a decreased ejection fraction that is due to the fast heart rate. I would recommend that you be evaluated by a cardiologist to reassess your situation and come up with a treatment plan for you.

Hope that this helps.
