Salt and water?

Hello everyone I am new here I hope you are all well.
I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure with the last reading standing at 164/96 ( which has come down quite a bit in the last two weeks from an initial and shocking reading of 193/110! ) I am new to all this and so have been trawling the Internet trying to get some idea of the possible treatments and came across several sites promoting a large consumption of water ( I do this anyway ) but adding salt!!?? I was of the opinion that decreasing salt was the way forward and that adding salt to the diet is the last thing you should be doing. Any thoughts?

I looked up that site...this guy is selling something!  Yes, it appears that he is an MD, but the *scientific articles* are outdated, plus are not true research studies.  They appear to be mostly just his opinion.  Be wary of some supplements as they can damage your kidneys and have untoward consequences on other systems.

Thank you for the reply maggiemag. The link to the site on which I read about this is:

http://www.watercure.com/wow/wonders_of_water.html

And so far I have not been prescribed any meds just ceasing with some supplements I have been taking to help me with weight training.

Wow, this is a new one for me, although I don't know everything!  Traditionally, a low salt diet is recommended for high blood pressure.  Try to have a goal to keep it under 2000 mg./day, which really is not that hard unless one is a saltaholic!  Just read every label for everything you eat and avoid canned, most frozen foods etc.  Ask your doctor if they have any info for you.  You have done a great job to lower your bp so far.  I imagine they put you on some meds.  Good luck!
