Where do I go for NHS/private treatment and advice for scalp arteriovenous malformation for a 26 year old male? The mass on the right temple pulses loudly and is growing daily and he has been told there is no treatment available/possible, yet I have found evidence of similar cases cured whilst searching medline. He is concerned that an arrhythmia he suspects is present may be related to the scalp AV malformation. He has been given an MRI scan and the malformation is not mirrored inside the skull. Should he not also be offered some kind of angiogram, ie a CEMRA? Please help, thank you.

A dermatologist at a University medical center should be able to help your friend.  There are new treatments available including laser surgery that can help this condtion.  I don't think it is related to his heart palpitations.

If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please call 1-800-CCF-CARE or inquire online by using the Heart Center website at www.ccf.org/heartcenter.  The Heart Center website contains a directory of the cardiology staff that can be used to select the physician best suited to address your cardiac problem.
