Dear Dr.,I have several questions for you,I hope you don't mind.First of all I will tell you why my doctor ordered the test. When up and active for a long period I would get dizzy headed, blackout, and get pressure in my head.I would all so have pressure in my head while trying to rest at night and all so feel dizzy headed this when I'm in bed.I still have these problems now.I all so have pain in my chest like a fullness,I'm not good at explaining things so I hope you know what I mean since you are a doctor. Here are my test results.1.LV systolic ejection fraction is at the lower limits of normal with moderate posterior basilar, moderate lateral and lateral apical hypokinesis suggested.2.Trivial mitral and trivial tricuspid insufficiency are identified.Ejection Fraction 50-55%.The color of the mitral and tricuspid are trivial.Tricuspid retrograde 2.4(PAP=mmHg)antegrade:0.680,Mitral retrograde 2.7 antegrade 0.677.Could you please explain what these numbers words mean.My doctor is suspecting I had a heart attack. Is that what you see in all of these numbers and words?I see a cardiologist July 25.Thank You TNT406.

Hello,

I can understand your confusion. We send full echo reports and clinic notes to patients at the CCF as well.  The problem is that the notes are written for physicians and there is a reason we train for 10-12 years after college to become a cardiologist-- it can be incredibly complex.  We do not report similar numbers on our echo reports and with out units I am not 100% sure what the are reporting.  The part that makes them suspect a heart attack is the lateral wall decreased motion or no motion (hypokinesis and akinesis).  I catheterizatin may clarify this issue but I would only do it if you were having exertional symptoms or new sysmptoms of heart failure.  A stress test may help clarify if there are any blockages.

I hope this helps.

The above link will help you calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI). I have friends who are a little overweight but active. That's the key: fitness, eating right and avoiding stress. Manage your risk factors, know your body and report new symptoms like chest pain that travels into your left arm, neck or jaw. Hope you're on an ACE-inhibitor which in studies has been shown to reduce further damage after a heart attack.

I don't have 12 years of medical training, so remember that.

Thank you Carolina03 I don't even know what an ace inhibitor is.I'm all new to this.I all ways thought it wouldn't happen to me.I eat healthy I was working but my nuerololgist took me off work, because of so many problems I was having. Not only do I have a heart condition,I all so have a 6 centimeter blood clot on my brain. It is on the cerebral artery, they aren,t going to bother it unless they have to,because it is on my largest artery in my brain.I all so have several 1 centimeter cysts on my thyroid gland.I get down in the dumps a lot.I have had two half brothers to die of a heart attack, and heart disease is on both sides of my family.I'm sorry to keep on babbling,I guess I'm just just upset.Tell me what happened to you, that way I might I have a little more knowledge on this. What tests they done or surgeries you've had.Take Care Carolina03 God is watching over you.TNT406.

Hi,MJM sorry to keep bothering you.You didn't tell me about my mitral valve or my tricuspid valve,I know that there is some thing wrong with them or they wouldn't of put it in my report. All so what does the color have to do with the valves?I didn't think you could see that on an echocardiogram. Will you please give me a little more information please.THANK YOU in advance.I promise I will not bother you no more after this.I feel like I'm nagging at you and I don't like doing that sorry.Thank You TNT406.

A cardiologist told me that most of the population has trace mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation..I do as a matter of fact...so you have nothing to worry about. Trace is barely any at all...the only time you have to worry is when it is moderate-severe or worse.
