Severe Global Hypokinesia

My uncle was diagnosed with severe global hypokinesia which was seen thru 2d-echo...  Then, he was advised to undergo an andiography, if the term was right...  To test if there was a blockage in the artery...  and further undergo a by pass operation if there's any blockage?

Usually, if a person has a severe global hypokinesia, should the patient always undergo andiography?  is there a possible medicine which will cure the disease then observation for a certain period before undergoing the andiography procedure? and worse the by pass operation?

Is this a sickness that we should be alarmed of and need to undergo immediate procedures?  Should we panicked of this disease?

I had global hypokinesis about 6 years ago.  The condition was caused by a lack of adequate blood supply to the heart cells.  I had a 98% RCA blockage and that was stented, 72% circumflex not stented, and 100% blocked LAD that had developed collateral vessel growth that bypassed the blockage).  The left ventricle was enlarged and the pumping functionality was 19 to 29% (EF, amount of blood pumped with each heartbeat...normal is 55 to 75%).  Medical treatment that dilated vessels reduced the heart's workload and the heart returned to normal size and the EF is now normal.

Usually, the procedure is to treat any blockage below 70% with medication.  If there is no relief from symptoms, then a stent implant.  Sometimes due to location and number of blockages, length, etc. treatment may require a by-pass.  There is no cure only treatment of the symptoms...you may want to google the COURAGE study.  It is an independant study of the outcomes of the therapy available and expected consequences.

It seems what is suggested by your doctor is to try medication for observation and if symptoms remain then angiogram with a stent.  Hypokinesis indicates heart cells are damaged but not necrotic (hyperkinesis), and sometimes the heart cells can be revitalized (stunned or dormant heart cells) with adequate blood supply.  My heart cells were dormant from lack of blood supply over a period of time, but has returned to almost normal.
Hope this helps you.
