Severe Pericarditis Pain

My 25 year old daughter developed acute pericarditis 5 weeks after her last ablation for massive PVC's.  She was given 1500 mg a day of Motrin to begin with and then after 5 days of no progress, switched to colchicine twice a day along with Naprosen and low dose Vicodin as needed.  Her pain has become much worse.  She has a very high pain threshold (her last ablation was 7 hours long and she had no anesthesia at all) and now cannot sleep and has dropped one class from her law school schedule.  She indicates that the pain in consuming her entire life, especially in her left arm.  Her EP seems reluctant to place her on the Predesone protocol.  Are there any other avenues to pursue?  Thanks for your help!

The question is whether or not this is in fact simply post procedure pericarditis. If he is sure, e.g that there was not injury to the valves or epicaridal arteries then he should place her on a regiment of prednisone to improve the inflammation and possibly decrease her pain. I would suggest and echocardiogram to assess her LV ejection fraction, valvular function and to evaluate her for the presence of an effusion.

Thanks so much for your prompt answer.  She did have a echo done here in California when she was first diagnosed and the cardiologist sent it to her EP at Northwestern in Chicago.  I am texting her to ask the EP for the prednisone protocol.
