Severe cardio case from the desert region of Pakistan

Respected doctors,
Here is a case of a middle-aged patient from the remote area of Thar desert in Pakistan. He is suffering from Ischemic Heart Disease. Here are links to two of his reports, one from a hospital in Pakistan and one from an Indian hospital. Practically, all doctors here have refused to operate on him.

Kindly look into these reports and if this person, who has a lot of responsibilities to fulfill in life, has any chance to be operated and given a new lease of life.

Hello neweinstein,

I am sorry to hear about these health problems.  It sounds like he has diffuse vascular disease including carotid, vertebral, coronary and peripheral arteries in a patient with normal left ventricular function.  I cannot assess whether these vessels can be bypassed without actually seeing the cath film itself.  We do many operations that have been turned down at other institutions and other countries.  The best advice I can offer is to adivce calling 216-444-2200 and ask to talk to cardiac scheduling.  When you talk to cardiac scheduling, tell them you have a case  you would like reviewed including angiograms.  You can ship the angiograms to be reviewed by both a cardiologist and a cardiothoracic surgeon.  We also have an online / email based consult service that is much more detailed then this general forum where a cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeon will review the case and present options.  I think this is the best option.

I am sure risk factor modification is already maximized, but it is always important to emphasize that smoking cessation is a must and that statins are particularly important in this setting.

I hope this helpful.  Good luck with this difficult case and thanks for posting a question.

Hi,
I am from Bangalore, India. Bangalore has some of the very best cardio hospitals In India and in Asia in general. You might want to try out Narayana Hridayalaya. If you can afford getting this procedure done at Cleveland Clinic, that would be the best option. If not, you could try this Hospital in Bangalore. It is pretty good and is well known for taking up difficult cases.

Good Luck.
