Severe nausea side effects after cardiac ablation proceedure

My 77 year old  father under went Cardiac Ablation in  July of  2009.  He  eagerly  anticipated the  surgery, and  the  improvement it  would  mean  for his  quality of  life, since he  had  been  struggling  with  Atrial Fib  for  over  10 years.  Even  before  he  was  released  from the  hospital, my  father  experienced  severe  nausea and  vomitting.  The  cardiac surgeon mentioned  a  small percentage of  patients  continue  to  experience  nausea  for weeks.  It has  been  5  weeks  since the  ablation surgery,  and my father  still  stuggles  with daily  neasea that interfers with his  ability  to  eat  solid  foods, his  energy  level, and his  willingness  to  leave the  house.  He  refuses to take prescription medication for the nausea  due  to the  side  effect incidence of  urinary  retention, and  the negative effect it may have on  enlarging  his  prostate gland.

Is there anyone  else  who  continues to experience severe nausea from the  ablation  procedure?  When  did  it  cease, or  what  did  you  find  helpful  to  diminish  the  associated side effects of loss of appetite, and  very low  energy level associated  with the severe nasuea ?  We have  tried accupuncture, and liquid  diets.  The  nausea remains  steady and  troublesome.
