Should I Be worried

Should I be worried?
Today as I was standing up my heart started to beat really fast and I felt light headed. This must of lasted for about 5 seconds tops and everything returned to normal (apart from my left arm feels light and strange, numb feeling)
Now I dont usually drink coffee but today I felt really tired so drank two smallish cups of black coffee back to back so this may of played a part of the issue.
Should I be going to see a doctor?
1st time this has happened (my heart did skip a beat about 4 years ago, while out partying)
I am 24 years old too.

Thanks

Yes, this can happen when blood pressure changes suddenly, but do keep track of these episodes. Take care, Ally

Hi there,

What you are describing is:  Orthostatic hypotension.  Happens when the blood pressure suddenly falls when standing up or stretching. The symptom is caused by blood pooling in the lower extremities upon a change in body position. It is quite common and can occur briefly in anyone.

Normally dehydration, anemia can be culprits for this.  check your medication, even OTC side-effect info as that can also be a cause of it.

The skipped beats:  PAC's and PVC's.  Also very normal and harmless and common.

Nothing to worry about, you'll just have to adjust by not getting up very fast and stay hydrated, eat healthy and if you start to get syncope episodes (fainting) then you should get it check out by Cardiologist to rule out POTS.

All the best and let us know if we can help.
