Should I be concerned? Chest is tight & uncomfortable

by Rigil, Jun 10, 2008 12:31AM
I had a general heart check up ten days ago.  The Ultrasound showed an enlarged Aorta, 4.3cm and enlarged Left Ventricular(No info).  At the time my Bp was 120/90 and heart rate 54.  I exercise daily.  I am 46, male, 185cm, 92kg.  At the time of the test I was taking 100mg asprin, 30mg Imdur for non-heart condition, 40mg Pravachol and 20mg a day of Dexamphetamine for ADHD.  These meds were pro-active precautions after an MRI of the brain and family history of strokes.  The cardiologist asked me to stop the Imdur because it could mask heart symptoms and I did.  I had a Stress test 4 days later with a Echocardiograph.  I performed to the mean average of  30 yr old males.  Heart rate got up to 185.  I asked to stop the test because my lower legs were quite painful and aching.  I was a bit light headed for 10 minutes.  In the consult room the Doctor told my heart shape is very different to a normal one, might have been the inside, got a bit lost.  He said he is not concerned because the heart returned to its original shape before the stress test. Told me keep taking the Dexamphetamine,Asprin, Pravachol and he will see me in twelve months.  Since the strest test I have had a continuous tightness of the chest and a dull ache in the middle of my chest.  The problem was only coming at night and gone by the morning, however now it is not going away.  Maybe I'm just worrying unecessary.  Any suggestions to put me at ease.  Still no idea what caused the enlargements.

when did you have the stress test? i had one 2 years ago, for my own peace of mind, and i had no problems after. if your having chest pains go to the hospital and get it checked out, it's probably nothing, maybe stress, but you should get any chest pain checked . i hope you start feeling better. remar
