Should I get my heart checked?

Should I get my heart checked?

I have been feeling physically unwell for quite some time and suffer chronic depression and anxiety.  I suspect half of my troubles are down to a malfunctioning heart.  The doctor cant hear any issues with it using a stethescope, but i know I'm not doing as well as I could.

This is an excellent question.  I would need to know more details with regard to how you are feeling unwell, and whether or not there is a clinical suspicion for heart trouble, including risk factors such as family history of heart disease in a first degree male relative above the age of 55, or female above the age of 65, your age if above 55 or not, smoking history, cholesterol level, blood pressure, diabetes, weight, etc.  Using these risk factors and the clinical history, your physician can decide if you are low, intermediate, or high risk for coronary artery disease or other heart conditions.  If you are low risk based on this evaluation, it may not make much sense to do any further testing.
Hope this helps!
