Skipped Beats

Skipped Beats

Dear sir,

I am 19 years old and have been sick with Malaria and typhoid for past four months. I have been under medication for malaria and am currently using COTECXIN for the treatment.

I have been experiencing skipped beats for the past few days and also the pulse rate of up to 96 when at rest. Please advice if this is only due to the long time sickness and different medicines Or is it something serious and unusual.

I dont use alcohol and coffee but drink Coca Cola regularly.

Dear Farid,
Malaria and typhoid don't usually attack the heart.  I suspect this is due to your prolonged illness and the fact that you body has lost much of its strength and endurance.  Much of this should improve as you get back to health and resume normal activities. Also be sure that you are drinking enough water (at least a liter a day).

Dear Farid,
I have just found this site and have been reviewing the different posts all afternoon. (I have my own heart issues and have been doing research). One thing I have found common to all heartbeat irregularities is that they are all made worse by caffeine intake. Therefore, I would recommend avoiding all caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, smoking, stimulants, stress and anything else fun but damaging to the health.

farid,
sounds like it could be dehydration like the doc said...try vitamins and more water. your body is probably depleted of these from fighting infection.
