Skipped beats, can they kill me if i push them??

Ok woke this morning to skipped beats, my girlfriend listened to my chest and was very concerned had about 20 or so in a few minutes. Now the doctor has told me that they are benign and caused by anxiety. Had echo, halter, blood tests, stress test, ecg's etc about a year or two ago. They picked them up on ecg and said benign and from stimulents/anxiety. This morning there was no anxiety just skipped beats and cutting out stimulents hasn't stopped them. What i need to know is:-

1.Does this constitute as a heart problem?

2.Could i do the things where people with heart problems aren't supposed to eg ride a rollercoaster, bungee jump etc

3.What would happen if i, for example, drunk some coffee, had a chocolate bar, got a bit drunk then had a cigarette and finally went on a rollercoaster at a theme park?? Would my heart handle it or would i make loads of skipped beats that killed me??

4.Does everyone with anxiety suffer from skipped beats then?

Thanks any answers would be beneficial to me in understanding what is wrong

Hey ireno!!

54 is not old!!  Right?  LOL

Under the armpits, huh?  Now, that's something that may come in handy one day.

I agree with not indulging in the alcohol, but then there is that chocolate....  : )

I may not walk on the wild side as far as alcohol goes (it just doesn't seem worth it to me) but I do other things that trigger my heart. I love to go hiking and fishing. My job involves working with wildlife. That means I may have to wrestle a raccoon, catch up an eagle, lift a 45 lb beaver into the sink or grab up a porcupine (you grab them under the armpits). Does it trigger my PVC's and tachy? Yeah, usually. But eventually my heart goes back to normal. I may be old (54) but I'm not ready for the rocking chair yet.

Waking up to skipped beats is a little weird, but generally nothing to worry about. Especially with a thorough cardiac workup.  That said, they are definitely bothersome and it can be helpfl to try and figure out ways to cope with them.  Most of us who have had them for years, eventually learned to accept them.  That generally takes awhile so be patient and try not to dwell on your heartbeat.  If you think it would help, you might try a follow up with the doctor who ran the tests in the past.  With a change of symptoms, it probably couldn't hurt. Chances are, the extra beats are benign, but hearing it from your own doctor may give you greater peace of mind.

1.Does this constitute as a heart problem?  The doctor would probably tell you not in the true sense of the definition of a heart problem.  However, they are bothersome and can raise levels of anxiety.

2.Could i do the things where people with heart problems aren't supposed to eg ride a rollercoaster, bungee jump etc.  I never bungee jumped, but have ridden coasters with lots of pvcs.  It does get them going, but I'm still here : )  Personally, I now choose to watch instead of ride : 0

3.What would happen if i, for example, drunk some coffee, had a chocolate bar, got a bit drunk then had a cigarette and finally went on a rollercoaster at a theme park?? Would my heart handle it or would i make loads of skipped beats that killed me??  I don't drink coffee, but like caffeinated soda and chocolate.  When my pvcs were more prevalent, I pretty much cut out the caff. beverages, and learned to curtail my love for chocolate. I never thought the pvcs would kill me, I just didn't like it when my pvcs worsened.  I don't think anything you describe (given your "benign" diagnosis) would be more than your heart could handle.

4.Does everyone with anxiety suffer from skipped beats then?  The general population is said to have skipped beats, but those of us who are more anxious probably notice them a lot more.  In my case, the pvcs were there whether I was anxious, or not.

Great questions.  I always wonder the same things!! What would happen to me if I took a walk on the wild side and ate a Snickers bar, had a glass of wine or, god forbid, had sex!! Would I just drop over from the pac's?
