Spironolactone to the rescue

Spironolactone ( Aldactone) is saving my husband's life on a daily basis by acting as an antagonist.  After my husband coded in the ER, he was blessed to have a rare genetic disorder recognized that causes his body to dump any and all potassium.  He was on extreme amounts of potassium supplements, his B/P was off the charts and he was going downhill fast.  Nothing was helping.  Then, he collapsed at work when he lost the use of his legs, then his arms.  The ER thought he had Multiple Sclerosis.  God brought to my mind his struggle with potassium depletion and I asked them to check it.  They literally ran with a bag of potassium just as he was coding.  Thank God he survived.  It was then they found out he had CAH - Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (17 Alpha-Hydroxylase Deficiency).  One little pill twice a day and his B/P straightened out and his potassium levels have been fine ever since.  That was 6 years ago.  During that time of struggle, I asked the lab techs at the hospital if there was a home test.  They said no.  But, we were able to have our dr. write a standing order for a potassium test just to ease our minds.  We could go get it tested anytime we wanted.  After taking the Spironolactone, there has never been a low reading.  It is a common diuretic.  Have your brother talk to his dr. and try it.  It is absolutely saving my husband's life.  Hope this helps.
