Stent

Stent

Thru stress test and nuclear imaging, I was told that my heart was not receiving enough blood.  I was told I needed a cardiac catheterization.  I had the cath and they found I needed a stent in the LAD.  I am not familiar with all this, but if this is a descending artery, how could its blockage prevent enough blood flow TO the heart?

I had a stent implanted 2.5 yrs ago there are veins surrounding the outside of the heart that supply it oxygen to keep it beating.  If the veins are blocked that part of the heart will die and not regenerate.  When the heart muscle dies (or any part dies) you then have congestive heart failure and it makes other parts of your heart overwork to keep up which can cause enlarging of the heart thus congestive heart failure.  If you have a cardiologist he can sit and explain this all to you or you can look on other websites and read about it.
