MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, pain can increase the heart rate and this can cause palpitations. Besides this palpitations can be due to hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), arrhythmias (altered electrical system of the heart), certain medications, heart failure, anemia and low blood sugar. The neck stiffness, check to see if the lymph nodes are palpable, if palpable it could be due to an infection. Stiff neck could be due to throat infection, tonsillitis, infection of cervical (neck) spine, cervical spine arthritis, thyroid inflammation, and a tooth abscess. So, please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. In the meantime, you can use OTC Acetaminophen for relief from pain. Regards
