Stopping Coumadin Intake

Stopping Coumadin Intake

52 year old male. Aortic valve replaced with mechanical valve in May 2006 due to congenital defect. Been on daily coumadin regimen since.

I realize worst case scenario with stopping coumadin intake is clot/stroke and death, but it is it necessarily a sure thing?

Could I stop the Coumadin, continue with my daily 81mg aspirin dosage, and survive?

After almost 5 months of Coumadin regimen, monthly PT/INR tests, and dealing with occasional medical mediocrity and feeling like a piece of meat, I'm getting tired of it all. Forget a natural valve. I don't want to have to go through another chest operation again...major reason I went mechanical.

Would appreciate any objective feedback.

Coumadan is simple a blood thinner.  It really has very little to do with how you feel.  You might want to check to see if your blood oxygen percent is O.K.  There might be something else wrong with you.

Why in the world wouldn't you feel free to ask your doctor and ask for an exam?  Ask 3 doctors if you don't trust yours. Your a young man with a lot of life ahead of you. You should feel good.
