Stress Test

by Mye, Feb 25, 2009 08:16AM
Why was I told that my stress test would go for three to five hours?  My husband's stress test was only for a few minutes back home.  Thanks.

Are you scheduled for a standard treadmill test or will it be chemical? I've never had the chemical test but I would think it would take longer. There are different types of stress tests. You might want to ask what they're planning to do. Some involve an echo at the same time.

My stress test includes something like nuclear medicine.  This is the only info I was told and that it would last from 3-5 hours.  What kind of stress test is this?  Thanks.

I've had this test twice. They inject you with a radioactive tracer that lets them image your heart and take pictures using a special camera before and after the stress test. The "stress" part of it lasts only a few minutes. It's painless, if somewhat time-consuming.
