Stress test results have me worried

by Sammy19, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
Resting electrocardiogram showed left axis deviation,no ST or T changes. During exercise and with increase in heart rate there was no horizontal ST depression or T wave inversion. Frequent ventricular prematures were noted a 5 minutes of exercise, In the post excercise period an occasional atrial premature was noted. There were no other arrhythmias noted.

Development of anterior chest tightness at higher levels of heart rate, which subsided spontanously.
No ischemic ST segment changes noted at level of exercise achieved.
Occasional ventricular prematures.
Decreased exercise tolerance, she's class two.
____
(The reason I had the test was frequent palpitations, which have since become much less frequent.)
_____
The report says I ended the test - I did not. The nurse told me I had 30 seconds left, then said in an off-hand joking manner "unless you want to go higher and faster!"  I thought  the test was complete! Didn't know until I read report.
My questions are:
1 How serious is the left axis deviation
2 Is the class 2 hf rating because they thought I was ending the test?
3. Is there anything serious enough to be cautious with exercise?
I've recently lost 55 lbs, and am just starting an exercise program. Also hypercalcemic pos from thyroid probs (nodes & cysts)which are under investigation -scans and FNA to come.

Sammy,

thanks for the post.

The most important aspects of your test are impossible to gather from what you post. Generally, we look at dynamic ecg cahnges (which it sounds like you dindn't have), how much exercise you are able to do, and whether there was any nuclear imaging or echo images. There are other factors such as how fast your heart recovers, and how high you are able to increase your heart rate. Without these factors, i cant really comment on your results.

1 How serious is the left axis deviation

Not something I would be overly concerned about unless there was other factors causing it such as LVH or a conduction abnormality.

2 Is the class 2 hf rating because they thought I was ending the test?

CHF is not a diagnosis from a stress test but from a clinical picture. Im not sure how this rating was generated.

3. Is there anything serious enough to be cautious with exercise?

See above interpretation.  You should discuss what exercise program you should be on with your physician.

I've recently lost 55 lbs, and am just starting an exercise program.

This is a great thing. Keep it up!
