Stressful event- Should it be before valve surgery or after ?

My mom has been diagnosed of severe aortic stenosis and has been advised angiogram and then valve replacement surgery. We expect a major stressful event that she needs to face (some adverse life event). Should we tell her before the surgery or after the surgery ?. If she takes stress after the surgery then I think it can effect recovery but if she takes before surgery, it also will have bad effect. Please advise.

I don't quite understand your question.  Before an operation an individual is medicated and stress prior would have little effect on operational results.  Stress subsequent to operation can have some effect on the healing process but there is medication, etc.!

I don't see any reasonable cause to tell your mother of any possible adverse life events after surgery before surgery.  May never happen so it serves no useful purpose to be unnecessarily concerned.

i think if you don't tell her untill she recovers completly ... But it would be better to ask the doctor .... I hope she have a great and succesful surgery

Thanks for your response. I don't think medications can counter any stress effect. For stress you just have to avoid it. I don't think any medication can counter harmful effects of stress on body systems. But yes thanks for your concerns. I understand medications can help you cope with stress, but your body still suffers because of cortisol etc.
