Stressing Out - Help required

I read the following partial information from the screen of an EKG that was done on me the other day:

Sinus Rhythm
Slight Intraventricular (or interventricular) delay
Consider Ischemia

I've been having dizzy spells, excessive sweating, always feeling tired, and feeling winded after any physical exertion. I am a 36 year old male.

Does anyone know what this means, and is it a cause for concern? Any help would be much appreciated as I am stressing out over this. Thanks.

Agreed, ischemia is usually related to a blocked artery, however, inter ventricular delay is a delay in the cell to cell transmission of the electrical impulse to fire the contraction. The most common causes can range from cell damage, a dilated left ventricle, enlarged heart or a mis-placed lead during the EKG. You should get your answers from your doctor, I was only passing along what had been told to me when the same thing was found on my EKG, it turned out to be a mis-placed lead during the EKG, which I was told is very common. If the lead is placed incorrectly it will affect the measurement of the electrical impulse and appear as a delay.

Let us know what your doctor tells you and I hope all works out well!

Ischemia is the blockage of a blood vessel. They are suggesting that your "delay" may be due to this, which is Ischemia.  They aren't saying for sure, and may need to do further testing.  But when it comes to your heart, get your answers from a cardiologist, who is best able to interpret the reading.

I would relax, trust me, if there was anything imminently dangerous on the EKG you would not just have been called by now, you would be at the hospital being treated. They are most likely trying to determine what course of action to take if any.

I think you'll find this will all be a minor issue when you hear back. Your symptoms can all be explained by anxiety as well. Take a deep breath and think happy thoughts!

Have not been to see the doctor since the EKG was run. Waiting for a call from them to tell me the results are in. They were sent to a cardiologist or someone to look at, and then the results would be sent to my GP.

Wishing I had not looked at the screen and given myself something to stress about. Just trying now to figure out how serious these items are, as I cannot stop thinking about them.

Inter-ventricular delay is not usually associated with blocked arteries, it is an issue with the conductivity of the electrical impulse that makes your heart beat. There is a delay from the time the impulse originates and the time the ventricle contracts. What does your doctor have to say about this? You may benefit from an EP study to check your heart's electrical system. I am not a doctor, that's just my understanding.

Good luck!

Looks like you make have some plaque building up in your heart causing the delay.  But I'm not a doctor.  Do heart problems run in your family?  You're young enough to start turning this around with proper diet and exercise, and it sounds like it's mild.  Good that you caught it early!
