Sudden High BP

I'm 38 years old. Have high BP & PVCs . Recently diagnosed to have elevated Intra Ocular Pressure.

I take 25mg of Toprol -xL 2 times a day. Eye doctor prescribed OCupress which is 1% solution of carteolol HCL  - which is again a non selective beta blocker it says.I would have expected with the two beta blockers, my BP would be quite low, but I've been having very high BP ( 178/108 etc. when normally it is about 140 over 85 etc. I did take ziac - diueretic to bring the pressure down, but doesn't seem to control it. My symptoms also include fatigue - as if I've the flu. Is this a reasonable reaction. Why the sudden increase in BP & why doesn't it go down.

Thanks for your input.

Dear Sherri,
You may want to have your BP followed over time with an ambulatory monitor to determine how high your BP ranges.

Dear n,

I am unclear why you would have this sudden increased blood pressure.  You should follow up with your physician.  This may represent essential hypertension or the development of secondary hypertension due to other causes.

I also have sudden high blood pressure with heart palpitations. I am taking 50mg of Toprol. I've been on it a week and still have palpitations. Haven't taken my b.p. yet but my pulse is low, around 58. Are you still have heart palpitatons? I don't feel fatigue just very relaxed. I'm wondering if I should get a 2nd opinion.
