Switching from beta blocker to ace inhibitor

Switching from beta blocker to ace inhibitor

My 42 yo husband has been on atenolol 100mg daily for over a year and his MD is switching him to lisinopril 10mg daily. My husband said that the MD did not say anything about tapering the beta blocker. Can my husband just stop the beta blocker one day and start the ace inhibitor the next day?

I would not recommend this course of action, unless there is a specific reason for stopping the atenolol. Rebound tachycardias can be seen if beta blockers are stopped without tapers.
