Swollen Ankles

Swollen Ankles

I am 53 years old, female,  slightly overweight, blood pressure normal and on no medications.  Periodcally my ankles swell and are very large.  I advised my GYN last year during my regular check up and he has related it to menapause, but they are swollen even when I am not on my period.  They are even swollen (slightly) in the morning when I wake up.  Any suggestions before my next check up next month?

Yes, I think that at least you should have an EKG and an echocardiogram to assess your heart systolic and diastolic function. If there are any symptoms of coronary disease such as chest pain or shortness of breath then a test designed to evaluate for the presence of coronary disease such as a stress test should also be sought out.
