Dear Joseph,
The American College of Cardiology classifies indication for stress testing by 3 catergories: I - clearly indicated; II - controversy exists as to the need III - not indicated. Stress testing for asymptomatic (no chest pain) individuals in high risk jobs (e.g. airline pilots, firefighters)is a class II indication.
