The after of a icd implant

I am 39yrs old, and have been healthy for most of my life. I just recently been diagnosed having idiopathic ventricular myopthy (sp?) I had one night  a few light brushes of pain and heart being wildly. I went to the hospital, they had to vibulate me 2 times before I was sent to a bigger hospital in Spokane WA. I am on coreg, and a few other meds plus the inplant.

I guess my question is the side affects of pills, and if pills seriously help. I am totally afraid of this implant Zapping me. I dont sleep well with fear, and struggle to hear my heart beating. At night I get hot flashes but if i get up and pace or walk around for a bit, it goes away. Is that part of this, or is it something else completely?  10/18 was when it was implanted, and my next doctors appointment is 11/14.

I had to take xnax for several years to help with the anxiety, I also found that as long as I am busy I do not think about it.

Sorry I do not know anyone of the top of my head from Washington state. Good luck and take care.

Thank you for answering about the icd. I am struggling  to be calm, and I have started back to work after only being off work for 2 weeks. FOr the most part if I stay busy it helps. I live in Pullman Washington and if you know anyone in the state i would love to hear.

Some people have no side effects with there meds. I have some side effects with the beta blockers but have learned to live with them.

It can be very scary worrying about getting zapped, But it`s better than what can happen without it. I have had my ICD`s since 1991  I got my first shock Easter 1995, I was told in the ER that it probably saved my life. It`s been 13 years since my last shock I have got to watch my son grow up and spend more time with my family.

Try not to let your anxiety about your ICD  run your life.  The shock does suck but it only last a split second and is more scary than anything else. If you want I can send you a link for a very good ICD support group, Helps to talk with others with your same problems.
