Throat/Chest Tightness after Irregular Beat

I have been having what I think to be irregular heartbeats for a couple months now.  I am currently undergoing some testing but it is not for a couple of weeks.  Thusly, because I am experiencing them quite badly today, I wanted to know if anyone shared a specific side-effect.  Much of the time, and especially when the irregular beats are STRONG and forceful, or when many happen in a row, my throat seems to get a 'clogged' or congested feeling... as if wanting to burp of cough badly.  Also my chest can feel a bit tight aswell.  Has anyone else had these effects after irregular beats?

I am just now experiencing this. I am 32, not a smoker, social drinker, used to powerlift and still look like I work out.

My friend's wife is a doctor and when I told her my symptoms she told me about pheochromocytoma. Check it out and if the tests are an option for you I would suggest you get them run, and go back to your doc that told you that you were stressing about this condition.

I have SVT and started medication. The next day i developed this feeling of a thick lump from below the area a mans adams apple would be and goes as low as the middle of the chest cavity below the nipple area or at the bottom of the sternum. Also a little fullness feeling in my heart area or lungs and throat feeling or a need to burp. They thought maybe it was gerd or strain from the heart similar to sore muscles. Also thought possibly anxiety or allergic reaction to the medication fro the svt. Well i stopped that medicine and started a new one and i could hardly feel it n e more but woke up today and its back! big time! I feel sick. I hope we both figure this out. Good luck.

I too am wondering if this is what I feel when I get my palps, pvc's or pac's.  I flew to Texas for an overnight trip (business) and everything went fine on the flight (I asked Cardio if okay to go, he stated as long as I'm not having any chest pains or faints) negative.  I did feel pressure on my chest upon take off but several burps helped relieve that.  It was a two exchange flight up and same on the return trip back.  I noticed on the last flight my heart starting palpitating so bad I almost stopped the flight attendant to let her know I wasn't feeling well.  I also suffer panic/anxiety but was able to calm down enough and eventually fell asleep.  I forget to mention I had eaten about 4 oatmeal raisin cookies before the flight so could the sugar rush have caused this?  Anyways got back home and had to deal w/some stress issues and although I let myself get angered by it I thought I had toned down pretty much.  Today I got up and felt fine but later in the morning I was having these off & on feelings of one moment I felt good next I fine bad, but didn't notice any irregularities in heart beat, shortly after I started have the chest tightness (not long, very brief like a quick tight then release, a couple of times it went to my throat and little in the neck area.I also found that either before these feelings or after I feel the need to burp and sometimes I did burp and other times nothing came out just the urge to.  I was waiting in the drive thru line for food and one time the chest tight hit me pretty hard that I had to hold my head down and breathe through it.  I came home and ate slowly and slept.  Seems like once I awoke it may have calmed down.  Am I describing palps, pvc's or pac's.  I kept checking my pulse and although I am sinus bradycardia it was a normal low rate mid 50's-60's

It doesn't beat fast.  What happens is the pace will be very normal...  then suddenly (it seems) i will have a very hard or heavy beat followed but an irregularly long pause.. then it starts to beat again but sometimes it feels as tho it is "catching up".  So, during the 'catching up' it can sometimes feels a little fast but nothing amazing.

AWadd, does your heart also beat abnormally fast? I've never gotten tightess in my neck from pacs but I do have svt and when I get an episode of it my neck will tighten up and I can feel the heartbeat pounding in there, much stronger than I actually feel it in my chest sometimes. I asked my dr and he said there are major arteries close to the surface of the skin on a person's neck, and it makes the heartbeat very noticeable there when it's in an irregular pattern. Don't know if this is what's going on with you, just throwing an idea out there. Hope your tests turn out well, good luck, em.

Sorry you are experiencing these irregular heartbeats, I was diagnosed with ectopic heartbeats a few years ago - for me its an extra beat and I have one for every 6 normal beats it feels like a skipped beat but what actually happens is the heart slows down to allow the extra beat in which comes with a thud.
Sometimes the feeling is stronger than others on occasions I have a funny feeling in my throat, both sides of my neck and head (almost as if my blood is not flowing) I dont get any tightness in my chest but I do get a throb down my left arm, now my doc thinks this is anxiety and I 'think' I agree with him because it can make me feel very anxious.  I have been assured its not life threatening and will leave no long term damage to my heart. I really do try to live my life as though I dont have a problem my friends and colleagues dont know I (suffer) with this, I have yet to meet someone who does not have their own personal problem.  Good luck with the tests and try not to worry too much.:-)
