by Mr. Fixit, Apr 17, 2003 12:00AM
Am 55 years old with diabetes. Had quad bypass 2 years ago. Will I ever get back to normal. I used to cut grass all day long. Now I can only cut one small lawn then I sleep the rest of the day. Why am I so tired all the time? It seems like I am stuck in low gear all the time.I have no endourance. Is this normal for my opperation.  ***@****

Dear Mr. Fixit,

Sorry to hear about your fatigue. Most people return to a normal level of functioning following their bypass surgery. I would recommend discussing these symptoms with your doctor. He/she may want to perform a stress test or evaluate your medical regimen inorder to determine whether or not a medication could be contributing to your symptoms. I would also discuss participating in a cardiac rehabilitation program to improve your level of conditioning. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your question,

I am disabaled and live on a fixed income. I have so many co pays out there I am in debt thousands of dollars and could not afford cardiac rehab.Bill collectors are after me and causing me a lot of stress. Every time I get an X RAY I get a bill from 3 hospitals and 3 co pays. One hospital took the x ray, another hospital ownes the machine and the 3rd hospital reads the x ray.I think the medical profession is in business to make money and not save lives. The stress they are putting on me is killing me. ***@****
