Toprol no longer working, Dr. prescribed cardizem

I have been taking 25mg toprol daily for about 1 month 1/2 to 2 months now, and I guess it has just stopped working. However the dr. prescribed me cardizem. Is that another beta-blocker?

hey i remember when your dr put you on it , i was just coming off of it after 3 days didnt like the side affects even though i never had any of them i read about it , i went back on timolol, mine are gone feel great have foe 2 months now. cant belive its stop working already. are the pvc/pac back again? i have never took that pill but i have seen a lot who do. cant hurt to try it ,hope it stops them . good luck.

I too was switched from a beta blocker to cardizem.  For me, it has made the world of diffence as I did not tolerate the beta blockers well at all.  I'm a runner and the beta blockers really hindered my working out, which adversely affected my quality of life.  My energy level is back to almost normal and the dizziness has reduced significantly.  One thing I do notice is that lately the palpitations are more noticable than when on the beta blocker.  However, for the most part, they aren't accompanied by dizziness so are fairly easy to ignore.  I did have one bad day in the month that I have been on cardizem.   I just hope it's not a sign that the med is starting to not work.

Calcium channel blockers dilate your vessels so be careful if you are prone to headaches.  Some people can't tolerate them because of this.
