Tricuspid Valve Regurge

Tricuspid Valve Regurge

One of my leads is interfering with my tricuspid valve and as a result, I have regurgitation that has been diagnosed as being severe.  I have been experiencing strong pulsation in my neck when I lay down and my veins in my neck ache, both of which are making it hard for me to sleep. I have also found that I can't do too much activity without getting short of breath.  I have been noticing some puffiness in my arms, face, neck and hands when I get up in the morning.  I also seem to be congested

My questions are  as follows:
At what point should I be concerned about these symptoms?
Is there anything I can do to make sleeping easier?

Thanks for any help that you might provide.

I'm sorry to hear you're having some discomfort with your tricuspid regurgitation.  Tricuspid regurgitation is not uncommon in patients with pacemakers as the leads can interfere with proper function of the valve.  Please discuss your symptoms with your cardiologist.  There are many options to manage your situation.  One involves possibly repositioning the lead.  Medications can also be used to help alleviate your symptoms. If needed, the tricuspid valve can be surgically repaired or replaced.  You should not live with this discomfort if avoidable.  Please talk with your cardiologist about your options.

Best of luck.
