Triptans and Chest Pain

I recently post about having chest pains and thank you very much for answering my question Dr MJM. I didn't think to ask about links between triptans and chest pains.  I do take alot of my triptans for my chronic migraines.  Also, is there any significance to having a "small" heart.  I had a chest x-ray a couple weeks ago and the radiologist commented that my heart was smaller than most my age.  Again, I am 33.  I suppose someone would have already said something about this if it were indeed a problem, since I do have chest x-rays on file for comparison.  Thank you again for your time.

Shel,

Triptans are contraindicated in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease due to the risk of precipitation of myocardial infarction or spasm. There are also reports of chest pain in patients taking triptans.

An Xray is a very poor way of sizing the heart. I'm not sure what was meant by small heart, but I doubt its of significance, especially if you've had more specialized cardiac testing such as an echo in the past.

good luck

Hi.  Just a friendly reminder to everyone, that we are only allowed to ask 2 questions on this forum every 6 months.  This is to allow others their chance to post to the CC physicians.  Thanks.

Thank you for your help.  I really didn't think there was any significance to his comments, but wanted an opinion on the topic.  Again, thanks for your time.

I didn't see anything in the terms and conditions that limited the number of questions we are allowed to ask.  I did ask 2 and now I have an appointment with my doctor early next week.  Isn't that the purpose of this forum?  It took me several days to get my questions asked and I have no intentions of abusing the forum or the doctor's time.  If I had asked several questions within a few days time, then your "gentle reminder" might have been a little less upsetting.  Too many people on these forums are more worried about what other people are doing than about getting their questions answered and moving on.  Thank you for making this my last day on this forum.

Well, since no one has backed me up, I will do it myself!  Look at rule #8 under the posting rules:  *Posting more than 2 new questions within a 6-month period, in forums (Public Areas) that are limited to the number of new questions accepted daily.*  I did not make this up.  I did not say that you had overstepped this, did I?  No.  I very kindly reminded EVERYONE of the rule as many do not read the fine print so closely, and are not aware of the rule.  EVERONE also thinks that their particular question is the most important one, that is human nature, but since they only take 2 questions for the entire world, a limit needs to be mentioned.  I stand by my original post.

Hi Maggie,

I agreed with you in thought but couldn't remember where the "rules" were posted. I vaguely remembered them when I first signed on, had to read and agree, blah, blah, blah.   I also remember folks saying that it took them weeks to get in because only 2 questions are taken each day.

As for shel not wanting to post here any more because of your comment, all I can say is that's a bit extreme. S/he will miss out on the support that can be found just because of a little disagreement.

Maggiemag,
I did not read the terms and agreements only the disclaimer and rules so I do apologize.  It just seemed rather strange that you put your comment on my post when I have noticed several other posts who have went over the 2/6 month rule and you didn't bother with them..  So far I have no intentions of asking anymore doctor questions as I know my question is not the most important.  I only came back because there is alot of useful information here. BTW, I did finally read the terms and agreements.
Yellowrose,
Thank you for your support.  There is alot of useful information on this forum and it is interesting to see the doctor's responses to our questions.  Because of the answer to my questions, I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and will hopefully have an answer to what is causing my chest pain soon.  I will hang around, but I probably won't bother with posting.
