Using coumadin & nosebleeds won't stop

Hi, I'm a 26yr old female. Recently had a mitral valve replacement & tricuspid repair on 12-09-10. I was doing well until February, doctors told me my aortic valve is now "severely leaking". We're trying to postpone doing another open-heart surgery until at least December. The medications I am currently using are: coumadin 5mg, Lisinopril 10mg, Coreg 6.25mg, 3.125mg, Aspirin 81mg, Lasix 40mg and Robaxin 750. I've had a very bad cold for a week and half now and my nose has been bleeding for the past 3 days. Its not bleeding up to the point that i'm filling tissues but everytime I blow my nose there's blood and often times throughout the day a drop would come down. Although, it's only my right nostril that's bleeding. My question(s) is: Do I have something to be very worried about? Is the bleeding happening because of the coumadin? The leaking heart valve? Do I need to rush to the ER? Thank you!

I have a friend that uses blood thinners and she's had problems with active nose bleeds, heavier than yours. At times she had to go in to have them stopped. She can't stop her medications due to other problems. I can write and ask her how she handles it now.

Yours may be very temporary due to the cold. When I get a cold I tend to get mild nose bleeds similar to yours. The nasal tissues become very inflamed and tender. If it continues after your cold is completely cleared up, then talk to the doctor, see if the meds need to be adjusted. But being on coumadin means you're more prone to bleeding and bruising.
